Workers spend most of their time in offices or facility’s and often travel locally to visit clients. Depending on the social worker’s field of expertise, whether it be, child, family, and school, medical, mental health and substance abuse, military or community, case workers environments can be very diverse. Having a Master’s or Doctorate degree parades a competitive edge and opens many more job opportunities. A social worker could pursue many career paths, for example; advocate roles in government, work with administration, be employed by a direct clinical practice, a profit or nonprofit organization, or work in corporate settings. The field of social work covers a multitude of issues within society and because of that there are plenty of jobs awaiting to be filled. Arising social issues are now opening new doors for workers. Convicted drug offenders are increasingly being sent to treatment programs, which are staffed by social workers, rather than be sent to jail because the public now realizes these people need help rather than punishment.
