Becoming A Registered Nurse Essay

There are multiple steps that one must take in order to successfully become a registered nurse. A registered nurse is someone who “promotes and restores patients’ health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; and supervising team members” (“Registered Nurse Job Description”). Becoming a nurse is beneficial for our society because it helps the doctor’s run their jobs smoother and they always need a helping hand. Most people who decide to take on the path of becoming a nurse, have a passion for the job itself and want to do it to better the health of their patients and help in any way possible. Majority of the time, someone can become a registered nurse with just an associates degree, which is only two years of college. This degree includes courses in anatomy, nursing, nutrition, chemistry, and microbiology. A few liberal arts classes are required as well (“Registered Nursing Degrees”). Typically, ADN is the most popular pathway for someone wanting to become a nurse to take, because it is the quickest way to finish.
