Everyone in the world is probably familiar with the profession, nurse or registered nurse. People often think nurses are females with a sexual connotation. The stereotypes given for registered nurses are not true. The word nurse has roots coming from the latin word, nutire. Nutire means “to nourish”. Nurses have a huge responsibility not only to their profession, but the patients they have to care for. You make your first mistake and you learn from it, you meet new people, and you touch the hearts of many. Nursing is a major part of our society and without our world wouldn’t function right. The degrees needed to become a nurse are the Associate Degree in Nursing Programs (ADN), the Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing Programs.(BSN), 2nd Baccalaureate and the Entry-Level Master’s of Science in Nursing Programs (EL-MSN). There are variety of nursing schools around the United States, but the top nursing schools are the University of Pennsylvania, University of Pittsburgh, University of California, San Francisco, and the John Hopkins University. After all of the education requirements are fulfilled, it’s times for licensing and certification. The licensing to be a registered nurse is the National Council Licensure Examination. People who do not pass the test will have to retake it. Nurses go through many hardships to be ideal. Registered nurses have huge tasks at hand from flying planes to talking to the president. I wish that could be their major tasks, but that’s not how it works. Registered nurses care for a variety of patients. They treat medical emergencies and recover patients who have just been operated on. Nurses also perform diagnostic tests and consult with doctors. Nurses also have the ability to change
