21.3 million people worldwide are removed from their home due to war, persecution, and even natural disaster (UNHCR). These people are refugees. Refugees are everywhere. You might see them arriving in your city or country. You may also hear about the issues in their country on the radio/news. But, the radio and news don’t tell you about the effects of becoming a refugee. When leaving their home, refugee lives are turned “inside out” from the grief and fear that haunts them. Feeling accepted and being able to start over partially subsides those feelings and helps turn their lives “back again.”
