Along with the obvious concern for others and thinking skills, these all play an important role which I will describe in detail. Integrity shows that you can be honest with your patients when the time truly calls for it. The last thing they need is a lie to the face just for easy comfort when the truth needs to be brought to light at the right time. Self-control is crucial because many patients can take months to years of therapy with little signs of progress. They can get very upset with anyone or anything because of the lack of progression and the way you handle that shows a lot about who you are. You need to be someone they can depend on for the future of their basic motor movements to be rehabilitated correctly so that they won't overwork themselves, or do incorrect methods of rehabilitation. Being social also helps you connect patients to each other as well as yourself. You make them realize that they're never alone and aside from you, they’ll always have others to talk to and relate with. Finally, you'll need to be able to think of ways for the patients to successfully transition through the phases of rehabilitation and respond to different results than what was expected.
