Becoming A Pharmacist: Personal Statement

Growing up, my parents worked twelve hours a day, which meant that as the eldest of four siblings, I had more responsibilities at home and took care of my siblings. By taking care of my siblings I learned that I enjoyed helping others. I saw how hard my parents worked in a nail salon, always working late hours and weekends, and I knew I wanted a better life for myself. This hope for a better life, which my parents have instilled in me, and my academic interest in science have motivated me to pursue a career in pharmacy. The defining moment in my life where I knew pharmacy was the right career path was when my grandma became ill. She would go in monthly to the pharmacy to pick up her prescriptions and I witnessed the relationship she had with the pharmacist. My desire to continually to learn and willingness to help others will help me better myself for a profession in the health field industry as a pharmacist. …show more content…
As the first child in my family to graduate from high school and attend college, I value the importance of education because I know it will lead me to my ideal job as a pharmacist. Education has instilled in me determination to overcome obstacles, such as learning how to succeed academically while overcoming a language barrier or breaking out of my shell to be a more talkative person.
