Five and a half years ago I made a decision that would change my life forever. After a long day at my dead end job selling guitars, I made a statement to my wife, “there has to be more to life than this.” We were struggling financially and we were having difficulty getting our bills paid. My wife replied,” why don't you take that EMT course, you always talked about becoming a paramedic.” Little did she know these words would alter the course of our lives forever. Ever since I was a child, I dreamed of becoming a paramedic. The flashing lights and blaring sirens of passing ambulances would always fill me with excitement as I wondered what type of emergency they were responding too. Some would say that it was in my blood to work in EMS. My father served his community for 35 years as a firefighter/EMT and 10 years as a police officer.

I grew up hearing amazing stories of wounded people involved in major car accidents, being pulled from the wreckage, loaded onto helicopters, and flown to specialized hospitals. All of this was used as fuel to power my way through EMT class, the first step in becoming a paramedic. I finished third in my class and was the first to find coveted employment as a casino EMT. This offered a lot of experience in basic assessments & scene management, as well as began my personal transformation but did not offer the advancement I was looking for. This lead to my eventual employment with American Ambulance. At American Ambulance I was given the chance to truly flourish and grow in a fast paced “step up or stay out of the way”
