Becoming a nurse practitioner is something I have always dreamed of becoming. I entered a BSN program with that in mind 5 years ago. Following the completion of that program I took a job with an inpatient oncology unit. Starting as a brand new nurse was, for lack of eloquence, just plain hard. Working in the field of oncology I feel was even harder. I felt so overwhelmed mentally and emotionally and told my "coach" at work that I thought about quitting on a daily basis. She encouraged me to keep giving my best every day and that it would get easier. "Just hang in there a year," she would tell me.
