A profession requires you to learn a set number of skills or acting in a specific way. Even though nurses do not have complete independence in the decision-making or practice, Nursing is considered a profession because it requires you to extend your education and also it produces a theoretical body of knowledge. No one can define a job from a profession. For an individual to act professionally, it means for them to administer care in a thorough and knowledgeable way without hindering harm on someone else. Because I understand the field of nursing may be difficult, I also understand the pay and benefits that come with the difficult work. I believe it is well worth it. When starting as a nurse, the average salary begins at $46,000 a year. After gaining a few years of experience, one may be able to earn a salary over $96,000 a year. Nurses can also work nights or during the holidays with the possibility of earning at least $25.00 to $40.00 per hour at double time or time in a half. Nurses with advance practice degrees and experience will have the best employment opportunities.
In reviewing my San Jac GPS, I will be in school for at least 4 to 5 years due to my work schedule. With me being in nursing school I will have to participate in clinical, labs, and do internships to complete the program. I was blessed that I did not have to apply for financial aid or pay tuition out of pocket. Because my mom was a veteran, I was able to use her Hazelwood benefits to pay for my classes. I was able to get a Pell Grant for my books and other extra expenses I
