Statement Of Purpose: A Career As A Nurse

One of my greatest passions is helping others. Helping others can be very rewarding and beneficial on both ends. Becoming a nurse would allow me to help and care for others fulfilling this passion. Nursing is a career for devoted, loyal, trusting individuals who are able to develop relationships with patients instantly. I want to implement my skills to make a difference in others’ lives, to assist them and their families through difficult times when they are most vulnerable. The role of nursing is changing as nurses are far more involved in the welfare of patients and this is placing more responsibility on nurses. I am confident of embracing this challenge and to take advantage of these changes and opportunities and use them to further my career.
In this world we live in today it seems that the value of life keeps increasing, yet, we don’t always have the means. An education is necessary as it serves as the gateway to better options and more opportunities. It is not just about lessons in textbooks. It is about the lessons of life. After receiving my CNA certificate in 2007, I got my first healthcare job working at a nursing and rehabilitation center. It wasn’t long after I realized how demanding the nursing field was. Although it was a difficult and demanding job, I enjoyed it. From then on, I worked at several facilities including home health care, hospital and a private assisted living facility. Meanwhile, I was in school and balanced working full time. As my college credits accumulated I chose to apply for the Licensed Practical Nurse program. In January 2012, I was accepted into the program and I graduated in December of 2012. My LPN education experience was amazing, it was hard and it challenged me. The program warmed me up to the field, which will eventually get me ready for the RN
