I have read The Warrior’s Heart: Becoming a Man of Compassion and Courage by Eric Greitens and A Separate Peace by John Knowles. I have found that these two books express the theme and meaning of friendship and camaraderie. It had me reflect on how friendship affects me in my life. These two books have showed me what it is like to be part of a team and how to work with one another. I was never aware about the true meaning of friendship and how it is a huge effect in your life until after I read these books. In the book A Separate Peace, the reader learns how two friends, Gene and Finny, share their lives in a boarding school in New Hampshire. One quote, showed how Eric tried his hardest to know let his friends get in trouble. “The questions kept coming, and I tried my best to answer without jeopardizing my friends.’’ He tried to avoid questions and say things to get out of the interrogation without his friends or himself getting in trouble. After Eric volunteered and traveled the world to help people, he decided to become a SEAL. He later became a leader and told his guys, “This week is going to bring a lot of pain we can’t avoid. Whatever comes, we’ll stay strong and keep smiling. We’ll have fun with it because every moment that passes is a moment that takes us closer to becoming SEALs.
