Statement Of Purpose For A Bachelor Of Science Degree In Nursing

I have known since I was young that I needed to have a career in the medical field. I was and still am fascinated by the human body, I enjoyed helping others, and there seemed to be something different to see everyday. The same still applies today but, I have one more reason for wanting to pursue a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing: I want to be able to provide the type of care that has been given to myself and my family time and time again. In the last decade, we have had our fair share of health issues but, the nurses have consistently remained kind, compassionate, and caring no matter where we were. These men and women impacted and inspired me so greatly that I want to dedicate my life to serving others. In the following essay, I will expound upon the basic statistics concerning nursing, the education requirements, how Chemistry plays a role in nursing, and what this means to me. A nurse is someone who “provides and coordinates patient care, educate patients and the public about various health conditions, and provides advice and emotional support to patients and their family members (BLS, 2016)”. A person’s fluid and electrolyte balance is also important to watch. If either one or both are out of balance, the patient’s condition is at risk of worsening. A nurse must be vigilant of the patient at all times to make sure that they are improving instead of worsening. Chemistry also teaches you how to accurately measure the liquids that you will be distributing as a nurse. Often times, the medications that are used are bought from a company overseas or from a company that distributes to buyers overseas.
