Because of Winn-Dixie
This story is mostly about a 10 year old girl who doesn't have a mom. Also that always thinks about her mom if she's ever going to come back or not. But later learns a valuable lesson and that is you can’t hold on to something that left or that wants to leave.

This story begins when Opal rescue Winn-Dixie by shouting that’s my dog. She convinces the preacher to let her keep Winn-Dixie by putting his head on the preachers lap. Later on
Winn-Dixie helps Opal with her problems which leads to the preacher telling her ten things about her mom.

During the summer Winn-Dixie helped Opal make pals. For example, Winn-Dixie sprinted to the Gloria Dump's house so Opal had to get Winn-Dixie from the Gloria Dump's house. after a while from Winn-Dixie sprinting in the Gloria Dump's house Opal got to know Gloria and be good friends. Next Opal gets a job by Winn-Dixie seeing a red collar and red leash. So Opal tries to buy the two things for Winn-Dixie. But she didn't have enough so she sets up an installment plan so she needs to work to pay off the collar and leash.

In the ending all Opals new pals have a barbeque with lights, dog pictures and dump punch and more. Then all of the sudden it starts to thunder storm so everybody starts to go inside and forget

I like that part because I thought his music was nice and relaxing and caring for the animals. I thought the most important character is Winn-Dixie. Why because he made Opal get what she wanted which is wanting friends. Also, he is the character that made everything happen. I thought the most important scene is that the Gloria Dump told her that you can’t hold on to something that wants to go. Why because so she won't want to hold on to her anymore because it stops her from thinking. I would ask the author when you were making the book did you think of making a part 2? If I could Rate this book I would rate it

Midterm Prompt 2: Ida Mae Brandon Gladney’s Migration Narrative In her book “Who Set You Flowin’?”, Farah Jasmine Griffin outlines the four major themes of Great Migration narratives. She claims, “The narrative is marked by four pivotal moments: (1) and event that propels the action northward, (2) a detailed representation of the initial confrontation with the urban landscape, (3) and illustration of the migrant’s attempt to negotiate that landscape and his or her resistance to the negative effects of urbanization, and (4) a vision of the possibilities or limitations of the Northern, Western or Midwestern city and the South.” She clarifies her thesis by writing that the themes do not necessarily come in this order, some migration narratives…

It became known that she “wanted nice things…at sixteen she had a style of her own: and knew what style was” (Walker 611-12).
