Here I sit nursing my puppies. I’ve lost count as to how many litters this makes. As you can see I’m neither happy nor healthy. I have been bred until my uterus has begun to protrude. You couldn’t imagine how much pain I’m in! I’m not sure how healthy my pups are. Given my fitness, and their care I can’t imagine they’re in top form. Sadly to my captors this is not important. I’m a puppy mill dog, and all that matters to the breeders here is the profit they get from our litters. Misery is all we know. We exist without hope, for we realize we are replaceable in our imprisoner’s eyes. Sadly, not enough people care or are aware of our plight… We are in need of a miracle! The kind that can only come from you!

Please tell me why places like this are allowed to exist? How can a person take a living creature, one of God’s creations and treat them so brutally. Have you no heart, or conscience? It is beyond my comprehension to understand why we must suffer so.
They just removed the dead dog across the way. For weeks he lay there matted, and dirty. His decomposed body being eaten away by maggots had a nauseating aroma. It made me want to vomit. That’s a feat for this place, with the smell of urine, and feces forever present.
I watched her pen mate try to avoid her dead friend. She would often howl, and bark in despair of her circumstances. It was so sad to see. I’m sure she must have been driven insane, and will have to be put down as a result. For her that would be a welcome relief since she’s riddled with disease.
I know my time is limited because I won’t be able to produce more litters. I’m sure this will be my last one. My body is just too battered to continue. At least I won’t produce any more unhealthy litters to be sold to an unknowing

(from www.petfinder.com) If consumers would stop for a moment and think beyond only the cute, furry puppy and research where the puppy actually came from, the business of puppy mills would end. 2. Puppy mill owners might sell their puppies over the Internet, which is ideal because it saves them money with no pet store price markup. If the new owners can’t pick the puppy up at the kennel, they can have the puppy flown to them. The individuals who purchase a puppy this route will not have the opportunity to see the conditions the puppy was born into, nor will they know the risk the puppy has to having hereditary problems due to the lack of care that has gone into the breeding the of the dogs.…

Both the passage of Boy's Life and the fable Emancipation: A Life Fable keeps various themes within the passages. We had 8 year olds being sterilized because their teacher thought they were flirting with a boy. It is very cruel and unusual punishment yet the United States still allowed for it to happen. Even things such as cases where a girl gets raped and is sterilized because they say she was the one that put it upon herself.
