Claudio is a soldier and after returning war and instantly seen Hero he fell in love. As well with Hero when she also seen him, it was love at first sight instantly for these two. Claudio refers to Hero as “the sweetest lady” he ever “looked on” (1.1.147). Claudio falls for Hero as in first because of her physical beauty and second because she is a noble, humble, and kind lady. Benedick is a very confident man. He is very confident with women and lets others know that he would prefer to remain a bachelor for the rest of his life than marry a woman. He would say,“That a woman conceived me, I thank her. That she brought me up, I likewise give her most humble thanks. But that I will have a recheat winded in my forehead or hang my bugle in an invisible baldrick, all women shall pardon me. Because I will not do them the wrong to mistrust any, I will do myself the right to trust none. And the fine is, for the which I may go the finer, I will live a bachelor.” (1.1.187-192), Benedick explains how he rather avoid getting into marriage as he will save himself from many problems. If they had not heard from Claudio and Hero speaking about each others feelings, they would have not quickly agreed to fall in love with each other. Towards the end in the play Beatrice and Benedick can not lie to themselves any longer as they publicly announce their love to each other, after a long hateful and full of argumentation against each other, they can not help but fall in love despite all the commentary they had made of each other
