A. The type of speech you intend to deliver (remember there are three basic types of speeches)
Out of the tree types of speeches, I believe delivering an informative speech would work best with the audience, topic, and occasion. I’m being asked to write about Beata Beatrix, a painting created by Dante Rossetti, based on Dante Alighieri’s novel Vita Nuova. I want to begin the speech by giving the background of Beatrice, the subject of the painting, to the audience. Then, I plan to inform how Alighieri’s work influenced Italian literature and culture, and conclude with an analysis and the significance of the painting. The purpose of the speech is to inform the audience of the painting and its importance to history, culture, and Italian literature,

Additionally, the society is also welcoming to all students, so I would image that several of its members are somewhat unknowledgeable of the topic. I would take this into consideration when preparing for the speech. First, I would want to make sure that I’m pronouncing names and Italian words correctly. Mispronouncing words would not only make me sound unprofessional, but, I would also lose credibility from some members of the audience. Secondly, I would repeat titles and Italian phrases in English. This is mostly aimed at those members in the audience, who don’t know much about the topic, so they can understand the meanings and gain insights to the works. Lastly, I would make sure to thoroughly explain the analysis of the painting and its meaning in to people who aren’t familiar with works of …show more content…
I would also use that opportunity to ask for any resources that they might have that can’t be found anywhere else. Secondly, I would meticulously search the internet for credible sources to gain information from, as well as comb through printed analysis of the painting. In order to truly understand the painting, I would read the book Vita Nuova. This could give me insight on the character of Beatrice and I could infer on Rossetti’s choice to immortalize her in the painting. Lastly, while I would note that the painter is English rather than Italian, I would focus on Alighieri’s impact to the Italian literature and culture and the events that led Rossetti to create the piece of art based on Alighieri’s

Amanda Wilson Professor Leightenheimer English 1102-01 23 October 2017 Role and Pathos: How Eugene Debs Creates Relatability Crafting and reciting a speech can be an incredibly difficult requirement. The main difference between these and, for example, an essay, is that enunciation and delivery can make or break a speech. With this addition also comes extra importance on understanding and reading the responses of your audience to gauge effectiveness. Speeches need to have a form of an emotional pull to them, or else they sort of inadvertently transition to lectures rather than a form of persuasion. Actions can still be carried out in more logically oriented speeches, but that passion to push someone could be lost.…
