Beastie Monologue

My head was pounding with an unceasing thud thud, thud thud, thud thud. I opened my eyes and scrutinize my body for reasons why I felt pain. Red blood oozed out of a gashed wound on my thigh. I felt, I felt, I felt, I don’t know the word to how I felt.
* I probably lack the knowledge of the word because of my head injury.
After I discovered my wounded leg I heard a blasting noise from who knew what at the time.
* It was a conch… They make an awfully loud clamor.
I felt an urge to go to the deafening noise. So, I ripped off my jeans and tied it around my leg, and got up and started my vogue towards the noise. When I arrive to a beach, a chubby boy who asked me my name approached me. I said Harvey, and in return got no response to his name.

I do not believe that the beastie is real, but it still keeps me awake at nighttime. I do not tell the others though, because the littluns are the ones who are supposed to be gutted with terror. The older group does not believe in the Beastie, but Jack was prone to catch and kill the beastie, unlike the pig he failed to kill on day one. I wanted to smack him upside the head and tell him to shut his laughing gears because he was being so hypocritical. Subsequently after the boy with the birthmark told his fibs he deleted himself from our view.

****Addition to Entry 2 The “Beastie”****
Simon discerns that the beastie was not real, and that we are the beast. I began to feel bereft of his presence now that he is gone. I really liked Simon. Now that I think back to his words spoken previously, we are the beast.

For Simon… I am a savage.

I killed you Simon, along with all the others, I am so sorry. I will admit to you through the words here on this page that I killed you, but I will not aloud to anyone. Words will not admit my savagery, because I was not always this boy. I have changed and not for the better. Sleepless nights are now not from the beastie but from my guilt of killing

Last night Jack stole Piggy’s eyesight, so now we left to “Jack’s” side of the island to confront him. Before we left, Ralph wanted to clean up a bit. After we discovered their was not a whole lot we could do, and realizing they would look the same unkempt way, we ignored our tangled long hair, stinky breath, and continued to start our way to Jack’s side of the island.
* Now that I have been on the island for who knows how many months, I really would think a toothbrush was opulent.
When we arrive to the destination of “Jack’s side of the island” there seemed to be a fire burning. Ralph approached to talking distance of Jack and told him that he must return Piggy’s glasses, because he is blind without them. Jack ignored Ralph and basically told him to lay off. With continuous bantering between Ralph and Jack, Piggy reminded Ralph that he needed his protection. Ralph was telling Piggy he would be fine if he stayed put. Piggy just about screamed have you lost your marbles. I looked at Piggy though and glared at him, and gave him the “really” eyes.
*I guess I should not have given Piggy the “really” eyes, because he knew in his gut that something felt

Piggy’s glasses are significance of hope and intelligence through the growth of humanity. In the novel Jack states,”Piggy specs, if the fire’s all out we’ll need them,”(Golding 76).This shows how Piggy’s glasses are a useful tool for the boys and without Piggy’s intelligence the boys wouldn't have survived on the island. Also the fact, Piggy’s glasses are used as a positive attribute, however at the same time are used as a negative attribute of destroying humanity. As the boys change, the glasses are becoming misused,”Ralph made a step forward and Jack smacked Piggy’s head,”Piggy’s glasses flew off and tinkled on the rock,”(Golding 71).The boy misuse the glasses by fighting over it to make fire and picking on piggy because Ralph always defend…

The boy’s descent into savagery is demonstrated when Jack inconsiderately steals Piggy’s glasses. Once Jack creates his own tribe, he steals Piggy’s glasses to light a fire and boost his popularity among the new group, “[Jack] was a chief now in truth; and he made stabbing motions with his spear, from his left hand dangled Piggy’s broken glasses” (168). Jack carelessly swipes Piggy’s glasses without regard for the fact that Piggy cannot see without them. Thus, Piggy is left blind in order for Jack to further his own agenda of gaining power and celebrating savage-like hunts with a fire-centered feist. After Piggy’s death, the boys have fully descended into savagery.…

Ralph and Piggy follow along afterwards. The children piled wood and with Piggy’s spectacles, which were taken by Jack, they start the fire, which unfortunately for them, burns itself out. Suddenly, in the midst of a complaint that no one lets him talk, Piggy realizes that they have started a forest fire, and reprimands them that they probably killed some of the smallest children. In the face of news, Ralph attempts to blame Piggy for not keeping track of the small children and believing that they might have gone back to the platform. No one is convinced by his statement, but they are all reluctant to face…

May it please the court, I Maya Goldberg, along with my co-counsels, Mr. Foote and Mr. Rogers are here today to argue the tragic event of Nov. 21 1932. On Nov. 21, 1932 Simon’s life was taken away from him due to Jack’s lack of concern for human life. Simon was not only killed, but killed by dangerous conduct in a ruthlessly and unforgiving way. Jack, along with his kids, were unaware of what they were doing but that isn’t an excuse to the action they have committed. In Lord of the Flies, Jack Merridew is guilty of second degree murder; a killing caused by dangerous conduct and the offender's obvious lack of concern for human life, for the death of Simon.…

When a group perceives something due to doubt, it can be very hard to convince them otherwise. However, Simon knew that the beast was not an actual beast real, something else entirely, like when in “Document E” it states, “Then he sets off, weak and staggering, to tell the other boys that the beast is human...” (Doc. E). This shows that the beast is not actually a beast, but rather just a human, who they perceived as a beast. When Simon goes to tell the boys that the beast is not actually a beast, but a human he becomes the “beast”.…

Irony It is ironic how Simon is murdered for being mistaken as a beast when he is considered the Christ like figure on the island. Jesus is universally known to be the savior, while Simon was on his way to save the boys literally and metaphorically by telling them truth about the beast, he was murdered for being mistaken as the devil (beast). It is also ironic that Jack says, “after all, we are not savages” in the beginning of the story, but he himself becomes the leader of the savage tribe. The naval officer thinks that they are playing when he reaches the island but Jack and his hunters are actually trying to kill Ralph. Piggy, who is one of the most civilized, persistently tries to convince the others of their foolish actions, "which is better, law and rescue, or hunting and breaking things up?"…

In the book Lord of the Flies, William Golding uses political allegory to illustrate that differences in leadership results in division of citizens and civil unrest. Ralph represents a responsible, democratic leader while Jack is the judgmental dictator type of leader. When the deserted boys find each other on the island, Piggy was the very first to be judged. Piggy volunteers to go with Jack “Merridew”, Ralph, and Simon to venture the island, Jack snapped back, “‘We don’t want you’”…
