The first thing I believe the beast represents is the fear inside every boy and having to blame that fear on something. According to Document E “The meaning of the book depends on the meaning of the beast, and it is that meaning that Simon sets out to determine. His first step is to a place of contemplation, a sunlit space in the midst of the forest. It is to the same place that Jack and his hunters bring the pig’s head”. This pigs head represents the savages that all these boys have turned into. They now like to kill for no reason. When they first landed on the island they were mere boys, but now they’re all beasts”. Simon then has a chat with the lord of the flies he tells him that the beast is human and it’s not worth trying to kill. This then convinces Simon that the beast is human and he must tell the boys. According to Document F “Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood!” This just shows how savage these boys have become, they want to kill a beast that they are not even sure
