In the beginning of this country the founding fathers saw it important enough to include an entire amendment to our constitution allowing us as citizens to own guns. It states in the Second Amendment the following: "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." The argument against tends to be that most firearms of the class are used in mass shootings, and that they can't be used for hunting so they aren't necessary. The main gun that tends to be argued against is the AR-15, which in reality is not only used in most recreational shooting sports, such as long range, and shooting competitions, they are also used by a wide group of people for hunting deer and other smaller game like that. Although they are used in major shootings, the majority of cases of people using them acquired them illegally anyway, and also suffer from mental illness, so regardless of what they use, would try and destroy other people. Some prime examples are the Bath School Disaster, 9/11, and the Boston Marathon Bombing, all of which didn't use firearms at all, just some sick people with sick agendas.
