There is a line that can be drawn to distinguish between tolerable and intolerable beliefs and practices. The line is: does the practice of following your religious belief interfere, in any meaningful way, with another person's life. This is the line that should not be crossed, no person, for any non-fact based reason should be compelled to do anything by another person. Every religion throughout history is notorious for compelling the people within and without its influence to act, think, perceive in certain ways, through the use of force. In many parts of history, it is true, that the influence was based on merely the “way things were.” Meaning that so much of the populace had decided to act in a certain way due to their religious beliefs that even those who held none of those beliefs fell into line. This is in all ways acceptable. If this is how religious beliefs had spread and worked, no one would have an issue with its power, because the power on a single individual could be stymied merely by that individual deciding to act, think or perceive in another
