“Be” can be described as the beginning point and foundation of a person’s ability to lead others. “Be” signifies who you are within, the qualities and aptitude one possesses, and the readiness to do what is right regardless of the outcome. The book describes “Know” as having the four skills necessary to be proficient as a leader: interpersonal, conceptual, technical, and tactical. The success of a group or organization relies solely on the leader’s ability to “know” and act. “Do” signifies a leader putting action behind their words. The truest form of leadership is backing up words with actions and leading by example, which is what “Do” represents. Enacting all three words together embodies the central theme of this book. Another key element affiliated with this principle is adaptability. Real leaders do not put emphasis on one specific be-all model; they rely on using all assets available to make the most rational, calculated decision
