Be-Know-Do discusses what leaders must be, know and do in order to fulfill their responsibilities. The following paper will identify, define and explain why the title of the book starts with Be rather than Know or Do.
“Leadership starts at the top, with the character of the leader, with your character. In order to lead others, you must first make sure your own house is in order.” (Hesselbein, pg. 8). The authors are telling us that before we are able to lead effectively and successfully, we must examine our values; the qualities that drive our thoughts and actions.
Nevertheless, certain qualities are associated with and expected from our leaders such as honesty, competency, forward-looking and inspirational. When leaders lack these qualities,
