Be Bold

“It is only by being bold that you get anywhere. If you are a risk-taker, then the art is to protect the downside.” - Richard Branson. From Abraham Lincoln to Colin Kaepernick, bold actions are taken everywhere and every day. It takes someone with true courage to do something revolutionary, because the possibilities of the outcomes are endless. Regardless of whether the result of the action is good or wasn’t as great as it was planned to be, I believe that it was worth it. To step out of the box, be creative, and do something that nobody else has done, as long as it’s for the good, is definitely worth attempting. In this myth, a young lady named Arachne was the main character, and she had amazing skills in embroidery. People came from all around to view her work, but all of the attention eventually made her cocky. One day, someone compared her to the Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, courage, the arts, etc. Though most would’ve taken the statement as a compliment, Arachne felt as though it was an insult, because she was self-taught. Her next move wasn’t very wise, but it was very bold. She made a statement, basically saying that is Athena, goddess of reason, arts and literature, wouldn’t be able to beat her. Athena heard and, after warning her, accepted the challenge. Arachne created a design that disrespected all of the gods & goddesses, and in return Athena gave her the legs of a spider. It takes a lot of courage to go against a god/goddess over something as petty as a comment from someone else, but Arachne did. She learned her lesson, never disrespect someone, especially those with more power, better skills, or authority over you. The bold action she completed taught her an important thing to carry with her forever, making it worth
