However, in the restructuring process, many enterprises use short-term capital for medium and long-term investment, so they are in trouble when the bank withdraws their capital.

“In 2015, the main target is not to earn VND3 billion from marine product exports but to increase profit in that amount and to bring benefits to enterprises and the country,” Ms. Nguyen Thu Sac, General Director of Hai Nam Co., Ltd, chairwoman of VASEP Marine Product Committee (VMPC) said.

Mr. Duong Ngoc Minh, Chairman of Freshwater Fish Committee (VFFC) said that it is time to rearrange the industry. In this process, the number of Pangasius exporters may shrink from 200 to 100 or even 50 but the industry will be more sustainable. Banks and financial institutions should be involved in the efforts.

According to Ms. Sac, to help enterprises, it is essential to improve the cooperation among seafood enterprises, VASEP and state agencies. Relevant policies, administrative procedures and credit schemes must be developed in support of seafood production and trade.
