It all started in the eighth grade, I was nearing the end of middle school and I had a daunting decision waiting for my response. The question of where I would attend high school loomed. The decision was solely mine, I was accepted to all the schools in which I applied and my parents left the choice up to me. I narrowed my list down to two, Archbishop Williams or BC High. Archbishop Williams is a small, co-ed school fairly close to home, while BC High is a much larger, all-male school located near the city and further from home. My transition to high school was quite unconventional, but it helped me grow as a person. It taught me to look better into the choices I have before delving into the easiest option. Also, I learned it is okay to admit you are wrong. It was incredibly hard for me to tell my mom I had made the wrong choice that night, but looking back I am incredibly grateful I did. If I did not admit to this, I would not be anywhere near where I am today. BC High has caused me to work harder and to get more involved in the school community, two traits at which I did not have as strongly before. Now looking at colleges, I can use this information I have from my high school decision in order to make the best choice for

Throughout my years of high school, there has been one thing that I have learned that will stick with me for good, one bad decision is not the end of your life. When I was in eighth grade, my shyness played a big part in my decision on where I wanted to attend high school. The reason why I choose Queen of Peace was that it shared many comforts with my grammar school. They were both under the same name, Parrish, in my hometown, and other small details that eased my mind of the building anxieties of high school. My parents were wary of my decision, the school had a less than stellar reputation and was always rumored to be on the brink of closing down.…

I am beginning to apply to colleges across the nation, trying to find the best place to take the next step in my life. As I received letter after letter, email after email about where I might go next, I know that I am not in this situation alone. Millions of other graduating seniors are…

I was born in Germany with a German mother and an American father. The benefit of being born into a German family and living in Europe for the first ten years of my life was the greatest privilege I experienced throughout my sixteen years of living. However, my father was in the military at the time causing for a slight pressure to always be prevalent for the duration of my younger years. This mainly revolved around the fact that my sister was able to grow up in Germany and I wanted that same opportunity. Soon after these aspirations were formed, they became mere dreams that never would be fulfilled because my dad was given orders to either move to Mississippi or Oklahoma, which both deemed to be the middle-of-nowhere.…
