If the mood was joyful it would be daylight or the room would be lit up. If the mood included feelings of sadness or despair there would be no light or dim light. An example of lighting in a joyful setting was the balcony scene where Romeo and Juliet talk about how they feel for the other, the lighting because of the pool was extremely bright and lit up the scene even in the dark. This scene can also be interpreted as foreshadowing because even the the pool which they are in is extremely lit up everywhere else is dark. The darkness being their dark future. The light being their happy present. An example of the lighting when the mood was filled with despair. Was when Romeo rams his car into Tybalt’s car after Tybalt kills Mercutio. Some of the best sound effects took place in the beginning of the movie when Tybalt sees Romeo at the part this angers Tybalt so much that he growls like a lion this was used to emphasize how the Capulets were cat like. Another good example is when Juliet is talking to the friar about Romeo after he is banished. She threatens to kill herself and when she racks the slide on her pistol the click as it chambers the round is exaggerated and helps bring the attention to the gun as she points it at her head. This sound effect is used to bring attention to how she will kill herself if she can’t be with romeo and shows how much she loves him.
