I. Issue Description & Goals The Baylor Athletic Department has made it a priority in recent years to grow its’ relationship with the Waco community. The department has created incentives for athletic teams to organize more community events and complete more service hours than other teams. In hopes to inspire teams to be more active in the community, the department has created a reward system called the Family Cup, which will provide prizes for the athletes of the winning team. The Baylor Men’s Tennis team wants to be a leader for this new initiative by continuing to get service hours through the community service events already in place and creating an event that will bring Waco residents to campus. Although the program has organized social events with member of the Baylor community in the past, it hasn’t been successful in establishing strong relationships between the team and members of the Waco community. With the events in the past the program has done a better job gaining support from the Baylor community, but this event was created to expand that support to the larger Waco community. After doing some research on business leaders in Waco I came across the Waco Chamber of Commerce (also known as the Greater Waco Chamber). This group has hundreds of members that are business people in Waco and have had a lot of leadership roles in the community. As stated earlier, finding leaders in the community to be participants in the event was critical to achieving some of the goals set by the

The world’s fourth most popular sport is a sport of focus, hand-eye coordination, movement, and competition. Tennis has been around since the 12th century, causing it to be extremely ancient. Like any other sport, it has witnessed discrimination against certain groups of people. The game has drastically changed its views and people that were once prejudiced-people of color and women- are topping the charts and adjusting the barriers even more by initiating equal pay and equal rules. The decrease of race and gender discrimination has increased the quality of play, and has changed the way that tennis is structured and viewed.…

From my perspective, what I found most impressive about this agency is that I used to go to games back in middle and high school with my family and friends. They always gave to the community and our school would get free tickets or Muddy the Mudcat would come to my middle school. The organization is very much involved with the community and the youth to the point where they give to get fans. I was also impressed with the way they are…

Clemson Tigers If you think Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney's Tigers are content with the top seed in this year's College Football Playoff, think again. Despite Clemson’s No. 1 ranking, the Tigers will enter Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla. as the underdog to the 4th-ranked Sooners. With most of the hype surrounding Oklahoma, which in some circles has portrayed the Sooners as possibly this year's Ohio State Buckeyes (won National Championship last season), the Tigers should be fueled to earn the respect they inexplicably have yet to garner from naysayers. Oklahoma Sooners There will be no shortage of motivation for the Sooners, led by former walk-on quarterback Baker Mayfield.…

As an athlete, I began my journey in sports full of dedication, fire, and hopeful anticipation of what I could do on the football field and on the basketball court. Much of my life has been devoted to extracurricular activities such as sports and the comelec, which taught me hard lessons in ethics and values that have made me who I am today. I not only represented my school varsity, but also sports clubs outside of school, which led me to compete in several local and international tournaments. In days leading up to the event, students would travel to businesses asking for contributions for the cause. During school, offerings were also accepted in a drop off box. The main event was a basketball game between the Hempfield High School men’s team versus the Rec All Stars.…

Tires crunched on the loose gravel parking lot as I was dropped off at my high school’s tennis courts on the first day of school. With my high school requiring a year of physical education, I opted to take the lifetime sport for I was nervous to compete for a spot on the highly competitive teams my school was known for.
