Years of tragedy and the complex flaws within human nature have told us over and over again that unless we recognize our mistakes and continue to move forward from that, “those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it” as expressed by George Santayana. I am extremely grateful to have the possibility to witness myself the anniversary and commemoration of such an important and benchmark historic event for the hundredth anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, and if given the chance- it would be a memorable experience I would never, ever forget. Some activities include contributing to the overall maintenance and upholding in my high school in the activities that occur before and after school, and in my own local Catholic church. From volunteering at Little Flower Academy’s open house for prospective students and being a volleyball official during games, it really helps me develop this ultimate bond and learning experience as I develop as a person through experience and training, develop social skills, and represent the school that I have learned to love from day one. I also serve throughout the weekends at my local church, Saint Mary’s Parish- from giving out pamphlets to churchgoers and serving and preparing muffins, sandwiches and drinks after mass, especially as it really helps me become more connected with the community and really feel connected to my church’s values and morals. Also, I am able to explore my interests in the arts like writing and literature as a writer to my school magazine Globe and Halo that I have contributed to since Grade 8 and now serve as part of its staff as a Junior
