Marvel's Ant-Man Poster Analysis

This is a movie poster for Marvel’s Ant-Man. The movie was directed under Peyton Reed and premiered in the United States on July 17, 2015. It is a PG-13 action/adventure film with a lot of science fiction. I believe you can tell just by looking at this poster that the movie looks suspenseful. I have seen the film and was very impressed with it and its elements. The creators of this movie poster are trying to tell a lot about this movie from everything that is included within it. The poster is very busy, and includes a lot of different characters as well intense and ominous scenery. The use of a cluttered backdrop for the title character in the background helps the audience know that many people (good and bad) are involved with this character, and that there are likely many different storylines interacting within …show more content…
The use of red is also prevalent in the title of ANT-Man and in the names of the actors and actresses present in the movie. Red is a color that has many different meanings in a wide variety of contexts. Red is often used as a color of fire, love, romance, and sex, but in this case it is used to represent energy, danger, caution, anger, and violence. It is also the color of blood, and this helps to signify that the Ant-Man’s battle will not be won easily, and that there will likely be bloodshed. The use of chrome or silver metal in the suit/helmet of the Ant-Man help to evoke feelings as well. The chrome signifies that the suit which gives the Ant-Man his powers has come from new, shiny, state-of-the-art technology. It shows that a lot of science and research has gone into this ability to shrink the size of a person. Most of red 's symbolism today arises from associations in everyday life over long periods. To a lesser extent this is true for the chrome, but it includes a much smaller time period for the associations. The use of all capital letters is a signifier of the

The constant use of green in the advertisement is used to symbolize the constant presence of the Green Arrow. In contrast, the Flash uses mostly red and yellow colors. Colloquially, the colors yellow and red are associated with caution and stopping. This is ironic is considering that the superpowers of the hero and villain are super speed. Figuratively, the use of color suggests that red represent The Flash’s strict moral reservations.…

Red can symbolize a lot of things, for example red represents anger in most cases, but in this novel, it represents wealth and somewhat elegance. In the beginning, Nick describes Tom and Daisy’s house, or should I say mansion, because it is a spacious home which covers a vast amount of land. It’s described as, “A cheerful red and white Georgian colonial mansion overlooking the bay” (Fitzgerald 13). Red is used here because it shows that the Tom and Daisy are a very successful family and that it is elegant looking house. The color red is also used when Nick talks about Tom’s house and the interior of the many rooms that Tom walks through with Nick, “We walked through a high hallway into a bright rosy-colored space” (Fitzgerald 13).…

My argument is that ISIS is an issue that needs to be addressed and taken care of. My goal is for my audience, Chattanoogans, to see the billboard and petition for action to be taken against ISIS affiliates, and thus, ISIS inspired attacks. Because ISIS is such an imposing force worldwide, they are causing claimed direct attacks as well inspired attacks (those not enacted by ISIS but rather those who support the group). Therefore, I chose the word “affiliates” in my text to recognize that distinction between the two. Moreover, I chose my call to action to be “petition” because it is a reasonable action that most people can realistically do easily.…

Another likely reason red was chosen was because it signifies courage, sexuality, love and pleasure. Red is often used to evoke erotic feelings, and MAC would have used it to try and lift the stigma on the disease and direct their mantra of “diversity, acceptance and celebrating” the individual at those affected by HIV/AIDS (Benoit). In order to properly analyze the advertisement using rhetorical appeals, it is helpful to define rhetoric and to introduce the definitions from Writing Today by Johnson-Sheehan and Paine.…

An Inactive Mind Through history women have always been the subjects of suppression, and the author of “The Yellow Wallpaper” was no exception. Charlotte Perkins Gilman was born in Connecticut in 1860; she was known for being an unenthusiastic housewife. GQ Magazine is a popular men’s magazine. The author and designer of the magazine cover clearly wanted to catch the male eye. The author successfully accomplished this by putting a picture of Jenifer Anniston, who is a very attractive female, on the cover sitting naked with a red, white, and blue tie around her neck. On the other hand, the second magazine also caught the male eye. The male sitting nude caught the eye of males who are either gay or looking at it to judge the person on the cover.…

A semiotic analysis will be conducted on this BIC advert to determine whether or not this advert supports hegemonic view of race, class and gender.
