From September 1st, 1939, to September 2nd, 1945, there were some of the bloodiest and most brutal battles in history. This global conflict began with the invasion of Poland by Germany and declarations of war by Britain and France against Germany. The axis powers consisted of Germany, Italy, and Japan who fought the allies, the United States, the Soviet Union, Great Britain, and France. Throughout the battles, territories, minorities, and millions of others suffered extreme losses over the course of these years. The outcome of this war was dependent on three major events: Pearl Harbor, The Battle of Midway, and Battle of Stalingrad. The United States entry into the war significantly strengthened the Allied force, which ultimately led them to victory. About 6 months later, from June 4th to the 7th, 1942, the Battle of Midway tragically took place. The main cause of this battle was the Japanese wanted to destroy the United States remaining aircraft and become more powerful in the Pacific. The US navy, through new war tactics, managed to destroy four Japanese aircraft carriers.
