This battle lasted one day: May 31st – June 1st, 2016. The Battle of Jutland was the only major naval surface engagement of World War I. This battle was fought in the North Sea, off the coast of Jutland, Denmark. British navy admirals, John Jellicoe and David Beatty both were informed that the German navy had left their port with Admiral Reinhard Scheer. At approximately 4 p.m. on May 31st, both sides had opened fire.
During the battle, Britain had the advantage, in which resulted in Scheer’s heading back home. Fortunately, for Germany, as they were on their way home, they ran directly into the British fleet. In a sudden panic, Scheer had ordered his battlecruisers and torpedo boats to attack the British fleet.
