Parenting technique has always been a touchy subject to most mothers. No mother wants other people telling her how to raise her children. All mothers believe that there way of parenting is the correct way. Most mothers also believe that their children are perfect in every single way. That is not always a bad thing but what some mothers believe to be a proper raising may not be so proper to everyone. When Amy Chua’s Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother was published she stepped on a lot of “western” Mothers toes. A lot of parents took Chua’s book as her saying that Chinese mothers are better than American mothers. People have their own opinion of what “good parenting” is. Good parenting includes loving ones children, being proud of them always, and disciplining when necessary. Amy Chua is a professor at Yale law school. In 2011 her book Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother was published and her book caused a complete uproar. Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother is about Amy Chua’s style of parenting and how she raised her children. Chua considers it to be a funny memoir of her life and has used the book to share her experience as a “Chinese parent”. First and foremost the front of her book says “This was supposed to be a story of how Chinese parents are better at raising kids than western ones” (Chua).Many Americans see Chua as referring to all Americans whenever she uses the term “western parenting”.
