As I was scanning the topic list for another topic to write curiosity paper #3 on one article popper out at me called “Tom Petty on past Confederate flag use”. It is a relatively short article written by Andy Greene and published by Rolling Stones about why Tom Petty agrees with South Carolina’s decision to take the confederate flag down from their government buildings. I really enjoy greek mythology and one othe symbols I came across a while ago is called the Caduceus . Which is a rod with intertwining serpents with wings sitting on top of them. When people see this symbol they think of someone in the medical profession, or better yet someone who can help them. However, this symbol originally derived from Greek mythology, more specifically the Greek God Hermes, who is the God of commerce. However after the fall of the Greek empire by the Romans, Hermes turned into Mercury, and he they still used the Caduceus as a representation of him. However, unlike Hermes, Mercury was the guide of the dead and definitely not a representation of someone who is trying to help someone
