Battery Powered Cadillac Escalade

One of my greatest toys as a child was my battery-powered Cadillac Escalade, an enormous five-hundred dollar car my mother worked so hard to get! My mom and grandpa even went to two different stores just to get it for me, because my mom really wanted me to have it. I remember being three-years-old and waking up to this half-scaled, maroon car and just being in awe at all the features it had! I remember it being roofless, and having a plastic key already in the ignition so that when you turned it, the car would buzz to life. It had two little gas pedals, and although the radio was plastic, it had three knobs. One was to turn it on, another to change stations, and the last to raise the volume. Best part? It was a AM/FM radio! A plastic, AM/FM …show more content…
One other occasions, when Donte would come to visit on playdate, him and I would drive circles in the apartment parking lot. Despite being a bit too young to drive a car, I actually drove it pretty well! I remember I always kept it at a slow pace, one, because I didn’t fully understand the functions, and two, because I drove on the sidewalk or in the parking lot and it was the safest speed. It was one of those childhood toys that you just can’t forget about because of all the fun and uniqueness about it. I made many memories in that Cadillac Escalade, many involving fun cruises with my mother, and those are just too good to forget. Growing older means going to school, and although I was bullied in my kindergarten year, it didn’t stop from making friends, specifically meeting my BFFL [best friend for life]. At five-years-old, I went to Lincoln Elementary, and after school I sometimes went to their after school program. It all started one wintry afternoon while most of the kids in the after school program had gone home, three other kids and I were stuck inside the …show more content…
All of my after school program friends were already picked up, and these three girls were strangers to me. Two of them were a grade or two above me, so that was intimidating, but there was another girl, and she was in my grade! At the time, meeting new people or being surrounded by them left me shy and awkward, so I decided to separate myself from them and go to the boardgames and puzzles the after-school staff had put out for us. It was in the center of the cafeteria, splayed out on one table, and I was the only one busying myself with a puzzle. The girl in my grade was hanging out with the older girls, so I didn’t think I was going to be bothered until she suddenly appeared right beside me! She was pale, slightly freckled in the face, and had silky, straight black hair. She just blinked at me and asked, “What kind of puzzle are you doing?” “Superheros,” I replied shyly. I didn’t care for them back then, but it was the closest puzzle next to me. “Cool! My name’s Ruby!” and without another word, she began to help

One day we were talking at lunch and a girl came up to us and started talking to us about herself and how discourteous her friends were to her, of course we told her that she could hang out with us. Ever since I was a little girl I have fantasized about living in South Dakota. I don’t know necessarily what appealed to me about living there, but it was always my dream. When my family took a vacation to South Dakota, that was what it took to confirm my dream.…

When I was younger, I struggled to support any friendships for an extended period of time. Before I moved to GCMS School district, I had previously attended three separate schools for the same few reasons. My parents could not afford to live where we did, one or both lost their job, or the environment was not suitable for our family. Moving so often made it difficult to keep in contact with old friends, and even more difficult to make new ones. As I was shy and introverted, it was an intimidating and terrifying situation.…

Although it was quite sunny outside, the temperature in the cafeteria felt like it was below freezing point. I turned towards Jenna about to voice my opinion on how the school should not have the fans on when the AC was also on, when I noticed 2 girls headed toward our table.…

It all started after my first cheer practice. The cheer team was laying around on the freezing, uncomfortable floor in coach Cook’s classroom waiting for the longest cheer parent meeting to be over, when one of the girls say,”Instead of sitting here bored out of our minds, let’s play a game!” One girl comments,”Let’s play HIde and Seek around the school!” All of the cheerleaders agreed, and someone started counting and we all started running through the cold, creepy hallways.
