One other occasions, when Donte would come to visit on playdate, him and I would drive circles in the apartment parking lot. Despite being a bit too young to drive a car, I actually drove it pretty well! I remember I always kept it at a slow pace, one, because I didn’t fully understand the functions, and two, because I drove on the sidewalk or in the parking lot and it was the safest speed. It was one of those childhood toys that you just can’t forget about because of all the fun and uniqueness about it. I made many memories in that Cadillac Escalade, many involving fun cruises with my mother, and those are just too good to forget. Growing older means going to school, and although I was bullied in my kindergarten year, it didn’t stop from making friends, specifically meeting my BFFL [best friend for life]. At five-years-old, I went to Lincoln Elementary, and after school I sometimes went to their after school program. All of my after school program friends were already picked up, and these three girls were strangers to me. Two of them were a grade or two above me, so that was intimidating, but there was another girl, and she was in my grade! At the time, meeting new people or being surrounded by them left me shy and awkward, so I decided to separate myself from them and go to the boardgames and puzzles the after-school staff had put out for us. It was in the center of the cafeteria, splayed out on one table, and I was the only one busying myself with a puzzle. The girl in my grade was hanging out with the older girls, so I didn’t think I was going to be bothered until she suddenly appeared right beside me! She was pale, slightly freckled in the face, and had silky, straight black hair. She just blinked at me and asked, “What kind of puzzle are you doing?” “Superheros,” I replied shyly. I didn’t care for them back then, but it was the closest puzzle next to me. “Cool! My name’s Ruby!” and without another word, she began to help
