Batman first appeared in DC comics in 1939 and a year later, his sidekick, Robin, was introduced. Over the course of the comic being written, his personality changes significantly. When Batman was first created, he didn't show any remorse when killing people. Later into the series, he becomes a more likeable, respectful character. In the 1950’s, Batman and Superman were in a comic together called The Mightiest Team In the World where they both find out about each other’s secret identity. The comic ran until 1986. New characters such as Bat-woman, Ace the Bat-hound and Bat-mite were introduced in 1961 and was also in The Justice League of America series. …show more content…
In 1966, the television series Batman started and Batman was played by Adam West. Even though it was a superhero show, it still taught many lessons aimed at children such as doing homework,using a seatbelt and eating fruits and vegetables. Whereas in the film that came out that year, Batman, Batman’s sole purpose is to fight crime in Gotham City. Michael Keaton played Batman in the 1989 film Batman where he is portrayed as a more dark and serious character, even an antihero. In 1992, the sequel Batman Returns was released.
