It is with great pleasure that I submit an application for the Marketing Growth Analyst position offered by Ampush. I learned about Ampush from personal research and became interested in your company’s unique approach to marketing strategy and campaigns. When I first learned of Ampush, I was immediately taken by your mission to cater an individual advertising experience for each one of your company partners rather than trying to find a one-size-fits-all strategy for every single project. Ampush’s focus on instead developing strategies that target the individual needs of each project resonates strongly with my experiences in the arts at Williams. With each theatrical production I worked on, I was encouraged to analyze and understand the show…

In Shannon Nichols’ “Proficiency”, she dislikes writing due to her experience with writing. I never knew I would not like writing growing up. People in my life told me I had great handwriting and loved how I use to write stories. In college, I continue to struggle in writing essays and it is a challenge for me. Although Shannon Nichols and I despise writing growing up, we still have become successful writers.…

An avid novelist and historian, Natalie Wexler presents America’s scary future in writing with her article “Why Americans can’t write”. Writing is an essential part in both a person’s career and personal life. The level of writing and grammar skills has dropped substantially in past years. Because of this, children’s literary work has come under heavy scrutiny. Teachers and parents alike are at a loss; no one knows where to even begin in the curriculum.…

All writers are passionate about writing. Few writers, however, are fortunate enough to make a living off of their calling, or even to publish a book. In today 's modern world of consumerism, being an author on a full-time basis is no longer an option for more than an elite few. The majority of published authors are also productive members of society in another sense, taking on some other form of gainful employment. To find out more about this double life of an author, I managed to procure an interview with Struan Sinclair, who on top of being a professor at the University of Manitoba, has published three books, with a fourth currently in the publishing process.…

As anyone can tell, the story “Writing Is Easy!” by Steve Martin, was intended to be funny. Although, I didn’t find it funny one bit. The humor in this story was very weak and didn’t really convey a strong funny effect. It’s clear this story wasn’t written for a teenage mind like myself to find humorous.…

Through the following three essays, “Why I Write,” by George Orwell, “Why I Write,” by Joan Didion, and “A Way of Writing,” by William Stafford, a reader can interpret the importance of writing in daily lives. The three authors discuss the significance of writing and it has impacted their personal lives. I was most compelled by Joan Didion’s “Why I Write” because of its ability to encourage everyone to develop an interest in he topic.…

My entire life, I knew that I was destined to have a career associated with writing; it was my past, present, and future. My ultimate goal is to eliminate bias in the media, but for now I am satisfied as long as I attain a job that includes writing. Throughout my life, I seized several opportunities to turn one hobby into my future. At the age of eight, I mostly cared about about three things: High School Musical, what was for dinner, and journalism. I had recently moved from England to Hawaii and was curious as to why my new, shiny, perfect elementary school did not have a school newspaper.…

In my earliest moments of middle school writing was one of my favorite activities to do because I could let go of emotions on paper. Writing was fun but it can also be boring at the same time because it depends what you can write about. When I got into high school writing was a week point. Even though I was not a great writer, I still have some negative and positive experiences that shape my writing today. Ever since I left my old school, writing has clicked for me and has created many new opportunities for me to succeed.…

Becoming the writer that I am today, was not completely a single bound but rather several small steps. My family has greatly influenced- both positively and negatively- my development as a writer. I have also had the immense privilege of having several amazing teachers over the course of my education. Though, my development as a writer has been most deeply impacted by the division between my personal and academic writing styles and goals. I grew up in Bakersfield, California which is a conservative hotspot in one of the most reliably liberal states in the United States.…

Everyone has a destiny, something they are meant to do with their lives. Charles Bukowski, author of “so you want to be a writer?” believes that if you have got it, you got it. We should look for our natural talent instead of doing something we do not have a passion for. In his lyric poem, which is a lyric not because of its sound but because of its emotion, Bukowski expresses the themes of natural talent and that if it is right, you won’t have to try. We should not do something we do not enjoy, but something that comes natural that comes from the heart.…

While some people may think of event management as a degree in party planning, it is gaining credibility as a legitimate career. The Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council created event management standards which also led to the definition of exactly what an event is (Robertson, 2015). An event is “a social form that organizes interaction in a distinctive way” or the “gathering of three or more people who agree to assemble for a purpose ostensibly related to the functioning of an organization or group” (Beaulie, 2004). According to Michael Auerbach, “in 2006 there were 51,000 event planners in the U.S. and 39% of those were within an event planning company” which demonstrates the grand size of the industry and its obvious importance to society (2015). The purpose of this paper is to explore a career in event planning.…
