From baby boomers to millennials, we have grown up on Legos. Whether it was a five-hundred-piece space ship or 10,002-piece model empire state building, there are childhood memories of the Lego brand nestled in our brain. Way back, not so long ago, in 2008 I was nine years old. Christmas was right around the corner and I had only one item on my list, the Batcave Lego set complete with the bat mobile and batwing. Obviously once Christmas morning came, I viscously tore into that gigantic red present sitting underneath my artificial Christmas tree, my two brothers and I instantly started tinkering away with the seemingly innumerable tiny pieces. Our parents told us we were wasting our winter break as all our focus was fixed on this Lego set; we started something we needed to finish. But the point of this story isn’t that we failed in building the bat cave, the point is that Legos have always been a part of my childhood. Legos were how my brothers and I bonded. Whether it was early in the morning before the cartoons came on or late at night when we would use flashlights, so our parents wouldn’t know we were up. I know that once I finally decide to have kids I hope that the countless Lego sets I buy my kids will give them as much joy and brotherly bonding as mine did. My advertisement depicts two boys, probably brothers, one on top of the other’s shoulder building an igloo with Legos in the freezer to drive them deeper into the valleys of their imagination. The brothers have a startled expression on their face as if they were caught red-handed. Say these brothers have grown up and are in their middle twenties. This incident happened so many years ago, but they still tell that story to this day. Obviously, Lego wants to sell new Star Wars Millennium Falcon sets, but they are also trying to capitalize on parent’s childhood days that were abundant with the Lego
