Michael Jordan once said “I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying.” The sport of basketball is not easy; it takes pride, awareness, practice, and confidence. How far of an impact has basketball made into the world of sports? Basketball holds a lot under its belt. In the beginning it was small, but now, the sport of basketball has overcame the impossible. The sport of basketball is now one of the biggest sports in the U.S and all around the world today, and it has greatly impacted our lifestyle and records are broken every day. How was the sport of basketball created? Basketball was invented in the 1890s in the YMCA corporation in New England (“Basketball : A”). The YMCA corporation was looking for a new sport to play during the cold winters; however, YMCA suggested
(“James”) combing other sports to establish the new sport (“Basketball : A”). For Example; the sport combined with the sport of soccer to use the soccer ball (“Basketball : A”). Basketball was invented by an YMCA councilor named James Naismith. James was born on November 6th, 1861 on a farm in Canada in the small town of Almonte (“Basketball : A”). James Naismith’s parents passed away when James was only 8 years old;therefore, James grew up living with his uncle (“Basketball : A”).
