“Fight 21!” Avery, Lily, and I bellow into my peaceful, empty neighborhood. The summer wind blowing the leaves, and our hair. Lily is Avery’s younger sister, and she is 2 years younger than us. We started our game of fight 21 which we had made into an activity that had its own rules according to us. They just want to win I thought so give them no mercy! I screamed inside my head. Squeak! Our blue high tops screamed at us as we began our extremely dangerous game of basketball, and the thump’s from the ball echoed throughout the street.
The basketball started to slowly roll out of my grasp and down my long rough driveway. Avery and I tear after it our blonde hair flapping in the wind. I am determined to get it. Thump, it sounds like thunder. Every time the gus macker basketball hits the ground Avery and I get closer and closer together. Silence rushes over the front yard. Boom! Avery and I collide. Our shoulders slamming into each other, legs getting tangled up. I watch Avery slide out into the road Lily’s scream pierces my mind as I go skidding underneath my mom’s turquoise mini-van. Thump, thump, thump the only sound I can hear. Suddenly I remember Avery and guilt floods over my body as I sit quickly up without thinking and slam my head against the bottom of the car. “Ouch!” I wince falling helplessly back onto the ground and this time sliding myself out very carefully. Once I'm out from under the car I push myself up and come face to face with
