Basketball has undergone many changes since the beginning of its creation, from rules to the equipment. The changing of rules in basketball is seen as a step of evolution which basketball has taken. This lead to opponents getting into altercations among themselves. Pushing, shoving and elbowing were among some tactics which teams practice. Years later, in 1904, according to the NBA website, an outbound line was finally established as a rule. This meant that if the ball went outside the court boundaries, the team which did not touch the ball would be awarded possession of the ball. Out of bounds lines was not the only rule that affected the game, but offensive rules of basketball were affected too. Players were not allowed to bounce the ball while having an offensive possession to score the ball according to the People History website. Eventually, there was a rule change which gave basketball athletes the opportunity to only bounce the ball once per person. Although players were given the opportunity to bounce the ball , if they would bounce it they would not be given the opportunity to shoot the ball after dribbling the ball once. The basket is an example. According to the source Hoop Tactics, basketball was first played with peach woven baskets. Players noticed that it was difficult to score with peach baskets. These woven baskets were set at 10 feet. Not only did the woven baskets make it difficult for teams to score , but they dramatically slowed down the game 's intensity. For an example, after each time a player would score, the referee would have time climb up a ladder to retrieve the ball this would waste time. Another equipment that has changed since its creation is the basketball itself. According to Hoop Tactics, basketballs were originally soccer balls. Soccer balls were not suitable and efficient for the game of basketball. Many sources stated that dribbling the soccer ball was very difficult for the athletes. According to Hoop Tactics in 1929 basketballs were remodeled into the form that we know as today’s basketballs. These basketballs were more efficient for the sport because they allowed better bounces for the players. This basketball also had concealed laces on them according to the NBA.
