Basic Formulas Of A Sitcom Episode: The Big Bang Theory

In this episode of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ we see that they use all the basic formulas of a sitcom. We see 4 conventional scientists that can’t talk to girls and make Star Wars references and 1 dumb blonde. This works well for the show because the references in the show are easily relatable and the characters have witty one-liners to laugh at. The directors and writers write the stereotypical characters pretty well, but they’re very predictable. I personally think the show “The Beverly Hillbillies” are in a way exploiting white stereotypes. They are showcasing a family from the country moving into a lavish educated society. The show plays on the perception of white trash society, such as rednecks or hillbillies. Although the show is done for comedy purposes, it does capitalize on stereotypes within society. In the book Dean mentions, “Even critics who enjoy the show do so from a crouched defensive posture” which is regarding to another popularized hillbilly show, Honey Boo Boo, but showcases the feelings audiences may be feeling.…

This show confirms almost all of these stereotypical views of men, and even exaggerates it. In The Big Bang Theory clip, Sheldon’s approach to modifying behavior portrays examples experienced in our homes and workplace on a frequent basis. Gender roles have been portrayed differently throughout the history of the television sitcom. The media often portrays the conflicts between men and women, while adding a comedic twist to it. In the 1990’s women’s role in sitcoms had finally changed their character into more dominant and important figures compare to the sitcoms in earlier decades. Women have stepped out of traditional roles of the housewife, the mother and created the compelling female characters. While women began to play an independent role, men’s character in the 1990s also showed a significant change in an opposite way of being silly and trouble maker instead of being masculinity.…

A pilot will tell you about simple things, like the who, what when, where and why. It can also delve into deeper aspects of the show, like character relationships, conflicts, backstories and so much more. He named Lisa and Maggie after his two younger sisters. Groening thought it would be too obvious if he named the oldest son after himself, so Groening decided to name the last child Bart which is an anagram of brat. Homer's father also received the same name as Groening's grandfather, Abraham.…
