The focus of Social Exchange Theory is when people socialize amongst each other for the purpose of expecting a profit or some type of gain from the experience. Behavioral psychology exhibits and provides explanations for all conduct in attempts of the ways that individuals look forward to being rewarded or receiving punishment. “Out of a very basic desire to seek rewards and avoid punishments, individuals (aka organisms, subjects, units) creates sets of strategies that they believe will increase the odds in their favor” (Family Crisis Social Exchange Theory and Developmental Theories, n.d.).
