There are many egregious crimes committed in the world today. There is a civil war in Syria, the terrorization of ISIS, and mass starvation in North Korea. The leaders of these crimes need to be brought to justice. The President of Syria, Bashar al-Assad, is one of the main reasons for Syria’s civil war. He has broken Convention IV of the Geneva Conventions, which, “prohibits attacks on civilian hospitals, medical transports, etc.” and the use of chemical weapons, another prohibition. Assad also conducts war crimes (torture and other in inhumane acts). Consequently, he should be put under life imprisonment and have his proceeds forfeited for crimes against humanity, war crimes, and crimes against peace. His crimes are extremely heinous and he will be punished for the money that he’s received by corruption. For these reasons, Bashar al-Assad should be tried in International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity, peace, and of war. …show more content…
He’s done this by targeting specific religions, killing hostages, destruction of towns, waging war, and slaughtering the Yazidi people. This is encompassed under crimes against humanity, war crimes, crimes against peace, and genocide. Thus, Baghdadi should be subjected to life imprisonment for the conduct of crimes against peace, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and genocide.
