Still a bit drunk, he opens the door to the basement hesitantly. He takes the first step down the basement and the dull sound of the stairs echoed throughout the basement. To his surprise, the sound was exactly the same as he remembered. Dave was six years old the time he was moving to his new home. The family used to live in a boxed up and dark apartment. Now that his parents had earned enough, they decided to finally buy a home the family deserves. It was their very first home. The home was perfect for a family of five. It was delicate and polished. Dave opened the doors to his new home anxiously. The enormous house was definitely different from their old apartment and the feeling it gave was exciting. Dave felt a new sense of empowerment as he stepped in. He bolted upstairs to preview his bedroom. He was so excited that he was getting his own room and didn’t have to share with his baby brother, Charlie or Lulu, his younger sister. Observing from room to room of his new …show more content…
He began to love the house more and more. Although he didn’t necessarily like the basement as much. So he stayed away from the basement. The family couldn’t be happier. Dave’s life was perfect, then it began. He would hear noises coming from the basement. When pointing it out to his parents, their response was careless. Dave snuck downstairs to the kitchen for juice. He’s about to leave the kitchen back up to his bedroom when he hears a loud thud. He looked from left to right to see where the sound was coming from. The basement door was near the kitchen. Fright comes over him as he realizes the tapping was coming from the basement. He slowly moved his way over to the basement door. He turns on the lights, trying to force himself to go downstairs and investigate. The thud continued. With his young mind, he imagined horrifying things that could happen to him if he went downstairs. With those thoughts, he bolts back to his bedroom and tried to
