A person that keeps this as their daily focus will find that they will be successful in any position that they are in, whether it is at the very top of the corporate ladder or in a subordinate position. People find their value not in what they're doing but how they are doing it. “My own personal belief about leadership is that you have got to have passion for what you do because if you haven't got that you can't communicate. You've got to be able to inspire with a vision of the future," Gill Rider says. "One of my most important personal values is inherited from my previous employer. Managers understand that in most normal situations, people would expect money or advancement in positions as the typical motivator in workers. Most people agree that there is little need for professional development outside of technical fields. Jobs and projects become repetitive and show little room for growth in career path and financial expectations. Although, when a person is not able to receive a wage increase or monetary bonus, it is easy to use personal encouragement to help motivate employees to seek out tools for higher professional development as a major benefit. In lower-level positions the need for professional development is small because the employees’ requirements to be successful in the workplace are small as well. Relying on those small requirements make it difficult to move up in an organization, Being able to expand professional development along with other skill sets will help more opportunities arrive in the future. Employees will be better prepared for the workload that lies ahead of them if they manage their professional development in accordance with the position that they wish to …show more content…
Technical positions such as a doctor or a teacher use professional development to help keep them current in their fields. New practices and better techniques help innovate and set practical standards that shape the quality of todays and the futures workforce processes. These standards could be from personal interactions with patients to the latest revaluation of a surgical procedure. In one light, professional development in considered an invaluable tool with how it has helped advance practices. On the other hand, a cost related with personal development is the time that it takes to learn and implement the new tools. The constant reconfiguration of practices and the management of the skills it takes to perform a job properly while staying current with professional development draws employees from their practices, and devote time to learn the new standards. Finding a proper balance to fit both personal development and the ability to work in current practices will help take individuals comfortably into the next level in their
