Managers understand that in most normal situations, people would expect money or advancement in positions as the typical motivator in workers. Most people agree that there is little need for professional development outside of technical fields. Jobs and projects become repetitive and show little room for growth in career path and financial expectations. Although, when a person is not able to receive a wage increase or monetary bonus, it is easy to use personal encouragement to help motivate employees to seek out tools for higher professional development as a major benefit.
