I am a professional baseball player in the United States. I started my professional career playing second base for the Dodgers, in 1947. As the first African American to play in the Major leagues, I accomplished a lot in the game of baseball but I did way more than that. I had an enormous impact on the Civil Rights Movement which was a movement trying to put a stop to discrimination towards African Americans. Therefore, I changed the way people looked at the game of baseball and people of different ethnicities; I was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962.
