Based on the characteristics of the career, a bartender could have many duties and commitments, not just preparing and serving the drinks. A bartender often has to resupply the bar through taking a stock and purchasing a correct amount of alcoholic beverages. If there is no serving staff, then a bartender could also have to prepare the skewers and fruit wedges. If a bartender is working alone, then he have to stock the essential paper goods; straws, napkins, drink umbrellas, and more.

If a bartender is not alone or if he is part of the staff, then others may be allocated to execute the garnish arrangements as well as the other stocking responsibilities.
