I think that the creators would all agree with each other’s work because they are all discussing the idea of empathy and morality. Barsky’s chapter and Segal’s article seem to go hand-in-hand for me. They both explain the importance of empathy and making moral decisions for society and your clients. The podcast also tied into this idea of morality and ethics, explaining why some concepts are more ethical than others and why we feel so guilty when we act immorally. Segal’s chapter was the hardest to tie in but there was still points in the reading where social empathy was discussed as well as the rights associated with social welfare. These concepts did work together because it is all about having a deeper understanding of individuals by perceiving their situations and gaining a better insight into their inequalities. I was able to learn about the ideas of empathy and morality in my Social Psychology class so it was interesting to be able to connect the articles and podcast and pick up information that I remember studying before. One of the ideas that I was particularly interested in is how to connect the field of social work to information that I have learned in my other classes so it is nice to know that having a strong background in understanding empathy, morality, and other human behavior will enhance my skills as a social worker. Since I plan to go into Clinical Social Work these ideas will be greatly used when I will have to discuss information with patients that may be extremely sensitive, it will be important to understand their struggle and have empathy for the situation that they are in
