Barry Sanders was born on July 16, 1968 in Wichita Kansans. His parents’ names are William and Shirley Sanders. When Sanders was a senior at Wichita Northern High School he had his chance to be a Running Back. Later he was recruited by Oklahoma State University. In his first year at Oklahoma State University he rushed for 2,628 yards and 37 touchdowns and won the Heisman Trophy in 1988 at the age of 20 for the O.S.U Cowboys. In 1989 Barry Sanders was drafted 3rd overall in the 1st round by the Detroit Lions.

When Barry Sanders joined the Detroit Lions he was offered the #20 Jersey to represent former Lions greats Lem Barney and Billy Sims. In 1991 Barry had finished the year with over 1,500 yards and finishing behind Emmit Smith of the Dallas Cowboys. The Lions had finished 1991 with 12-4 then had lost to the Redskins in the NFC championship. Barry Sanders had signed with the Detroit Lions for 10 years. In 1994 Barry had went all out and had named 1994 the “Dream Year”. In the “Dream Year” Barry had rushed for 2,358 yards. In 1994 Barry had led the NFL with 1,500 yards plus 2,166 from the line of scrimmage. After the 1994 season had ended Barry was awarded Most Offensive Player of the Year. In 1997 Barry had set a record for rushing 100 yards for 14 consecutive games. In 1997 Barry Sanders had shared Most Valuable Player with Green Bay’s Quarterback Bret Favre. Barry became 1 of the 3rd youngest player to be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Barry rushed for 15,269 yards in his football career. Barry had set a rushing record with 2,628 rushing yards in 1988. He is an athlete because when he was playing he would always find a spot to get through even it was blocked.
