Barry Sanders Accomplishments

As he began his Pro career, he was known as an electrifying runner. Barry Sanders rushed for more than 1,000 yards in each of his 10 seasons with the Detroit Lions. He was the first running back ever to do so in Detroit's history. With Sanders is the 1988 Heisman Trophy winner, he was also just the third person to gain more than 2,000 yards in a season back in 1997 (Barry). During the years he was playing, he was arguably the best running back in the league. He had won the Rookie of the Year Award, and also named the Most Valuable Player a few times. In all of Barry’s years playing for the Lions, he was selected to play in the Pro Bowl each of his 10 NFL seasons, because Sanders held nearly every Lions’ rushing record and numerous all-time NFL records. With all of his achievements Barry was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame back in 2004. The next player is John Elway. John was a football and baseball player at Granada Hills High School in Los Angeles, California. As Elway career continued he attended Stanford University to play football. He was a talented quarterback who went on to throw for over 9,000 yards and set five major NCAA Division I-A records during his four years at Stanford, finishing second in the Heisman Trophy balloting as a senior. He was living in a tough time when he was little but he put his energy into the game of football. Emmitt wasn't the biggest guy out on the field, but he didn’t let his size change the game any for him (Smith, 1989, P.6). In Smith’s high school , Escambia, their team only had one winning season in the past 18 years, but when he started playing he lead the team to state championships his sophomore and junior seasons.
